How We Collect Your Personal and Other Data

You Provide Information to Us

We collect information about you when you interact with our Services, such as when you create or update your account, or upload content to the Services.

Automatically Through Our Services

As you navigate through and interact with our Services, we may use automatic data collection technologies to collect information that may include Personal Data. Information collected automatically may include usage details, IP addresses, and browser type, and information collected through cookies and other tracking technologies may include details of your interactions with the Services, such as location data, logs, and other communication data. Using automatic collection technologies helps us improve our Services and deliver a more personalized experience.

To the extent use of any of these automated technologies are considered a sale of Personal Data, targeted advertising, or profiling, under applicable laws, depending on where you live, you may opt out from use of these automated technologies by emailing us at legal@themusing.ai. Please note that some Services features may be unavailable as a result. We currently do not sell or share your Personal Data for purposes of cross-context behavioral advertising, however.

How We Protect Your Personal Data

We use commercially reasonable administrative, physical, and technical measures designed to protect your Personal Data from accidental loss or destruction and from unauthorized access, use, alteration, and disclosure. However, no website, mobile application, system, electronic storage system, or online service is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee the security of your Personal Data transmitted to, through, or in connection with the Services. In particular, prompts and other content sent to the Services may not be secure, and you should carefully decide what information you send to us when using the Services. Any transmission of Personal Data is at your own risk.

How We Retain Your Personal Data

We keep the categories of Personal Data described in this policy for as long as (i) reasonably necessary to fulfill the purposes described or (ii) otherwise legally permitted or required. This means that we consider our legal and business obligations, potential risks of harm, and nature of the information when deciding how long to retain Personal Data. At the end of the retention period, Personal Data will be deleted, destroyed, or deidentified.

Google User Data

Muse can be installed in Google Chat™ from the Google Workspace™ Marketplace, and you can sign in to the Services with your Google account. This section describes how we handle the data we receive from Google in those cases.

What we access

  • When a Google Workspace administrator installs Muse and adds it to spaces, we receive the messages posted in those spaces, the list of members and their roles, and the names and settings of those spaces, through the Google Chat API and Google Workspace Events.
  • When a Workspace administrator connects their organization on the Muse account page, we receive their Google account email address and basic profile, and, using their administrator permissions, the list of spaces in their organization so they can choose which spaces Muse joins.
  • When you sign in with Google, we receive your email address and basic profile information.

How we use it

We use Google user data only to provide the features of the Services that your team has chosen: replying in Google Chat, producing reports and summaries for the spaces Muse is in, sending private nudges and reminders, and answering questions from your team’s conversation history. We do not use Google user data for advertising, we do not sell it, and we do not share it with data brokers or other information resellers.

How we store and share it

Google user data is stored in our database hosted on Amazon Web Services in the United States. Access tokens are encrypted at rest. We share Google user data only with the service providers that process it on our behalf to deliver the Services, as described in the AI Processing section below, and with no one else except as required for security or legal reasons. No one at Musing reads a customer’s messages without that customer’s explicit agreement, except where necessary for security purposes or to comply with applicable law.

How long we keep it

We keep Google user data while your organization remains connected to Muse. When an administrator uninstalls Muse or disconnects the organization, the associated data is removed by our scheduled purge. You can also ask us to delete it at any time by emailing legal@themusing.ai.

Limited Use

The use of information received from Google Workspace APIs will adhere to the Google User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Microsoft Teams Data

A team owner can add Muse to a team in Microsoft Teams. This section describes how we handle the data we receive from Microsoft in that case.

What we access

  • When Muse is added to a team, Microsoft sends us the messages posted in the team’s standard channels, the list of the team’s channels and members with their roles, and messages that mention Muse anywhere it has been added, including group chats and direct messages with Muse.
  • When an administrator of your Microsoft 365 organization grants Muse’s admin consent, we also receive the messages and reactions in private and shared channels Muse follows, and everyone’s reactions and edits in the channels Muse follows, through Microsoft Graph.

Which channels Muse keeps

Microsoft Teams sends an app every message of every standard channel in a team it is added to. Your team chooses which of those channels Muse follows on the Muse account page. Messages from a channel Muse does not follow are discarded when they arrive and are never stored.

How we use, store and share it

We use Microsoft Teams data only to provide the features of the Services that your team has chosen, and we handle it the same way as Google user data above: stored in our database hosted on Amazon Web Services in the United States, shared only with the service providers described in the AI Processing section, never used for advertising, and never sold.

AI Processing

Muse uses large language models to generate its replies, reports, summaries, and answers. To do this, the content Muse processes, including Google user data, is sent to Google’s Gemini API under Google’s paid-tier terms, which do not permit Google to use that content to improve its models. Some processing runs on services we host within our own infrastructure on Amazon Web Services, including an analysis service and a memory service. Data processed there stays within our infrastructure and is never transmitted to a model provider.

We do not use Google user data, whether raw, aggregated, or derived, to create, train, or improve generalized or foundational artificial intelligence or machine learning models, and we do not transfer it to any third party that would do so. Google Workspace API data is used only to provide the personalized features of the Services described in this policy.

Changes to Our Privacy Policy

We may update this policy from time to time, and we will provide notice of any such changes to the policy as required by law. The date the privacy policy was last updated is identified at the top of the page. We will notify you of changes to this policy by updating the “last updated” date and posting the updated policy on our website. You should check our website periodically to see the current policy and any changes we have made to it.

SMS/Text Messaging

When you provide your mobile number and opt in to receive text messages from Musing AI, we use that number only to deliver the messaging services you signed up for (including verification codes, assistant replies, and reminders). No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Information sharing with subcontractors that support the service, such as customer service providers, is permitted. All other use case categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.

You can opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message. Reply HELP for support. Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies.
